Dugong seals are found on shallow
sea beds close to shores, mostly in the pacific and Indian oceans. Dugong seals eat mostly sea grass. And sometimes algae. Although they are considered herbivores (Plant eaters), biologists have also found small crabs in the stomachs of some dugong seals. Dugongs are mammals. They have thick grey fur and are sometimes confused with manatees because they look much alike. Biologist can only sometimes tell them apart by their tails. Dugongs' tails are wide and look similar to a whale's tail instead of being round like a manatees' tail . Dungons have short, wide snots that face down to their mouths. Their faces are the reasons they have the nickname sea pig. |
