Achievements 1997

In the long history of the club, no year has ever compared with 1997. The mid eighties saw the breakthrough at county level with junior B, football and hurling championships coming to the parish for the first time in consecutive years. In the early nineties the under age teams made the breakthrough and the fruits of these achievements must surely have been reaped in 1997. Never in the one hundred and eleven years of the clubs existence did so many teams contest so many finals.
For the record eleven finals were contested and victory was Monagea's in six of these.
At National School level they were champions in hurling and beaten by one point in the final of the football  championship after a replay.
