This replay was once again heading for extra-time until Thomas O’Hanlon intervened and finally put an end to this epic saga. It was an unfortunate way for any side to loose and Tullogher should be very proud of their efforts throughout this sporting tie. Thos game was switched from Slievrue to Mooncoin due to the unsafe playing conditions.
Mooncoin made the early running and took the lead after a well worked move between Paddy Kinsella and Ray Wall created the opportunity for Kevin Law who finished to the net. The response was immediate with James Ryan having a speculative shot moments later which managed to deceive young goalie Niall O’Hanlon and end up in the net. It was nip and tuck from there to the half time break with both sides trading points from play and frees. Liam Barron and Ray Wall traded frees while a brace from Shane Ryan and a point from Thomas O’Hanlon left the half time score 1-3(T) to 1-2(M).
The new half began with the home side taking equalising through Ray Wall. Liam Barron edged his team back in front before an inspirational point by Alan Walsh restored parity. This score galvanised the home team and they edged in front with points from Thomas Kearns and Ray Wall(f). However Tullogher didn’t know how to give up with points from James Mullally and Liam Barron(f) keeping parity. The game was now in the melting pot and it required someone to step up to the mark and thankfully for Mooncoin, O’Hanlon was that man.
The victors had some heroic performance from their defence with Noel Delahunty, Cormac Daly and Derek Phelan worth a mention, while further a field Thomas O’Hanlon, Ray Wall and Kevin Law kept the show on the road. The losers had good performances from Richie Dollard, Pat Hartley, Liam Barron and Shane Ryan.
