The first round of this competition took place last Friday in Mooncoin with both sides eager to put on a good show. The effort from both sides was quite good however the first touch hurling of some of the Mooncoin players was the difference between the teams.

The home side started brightly and with Kevin Law in good scoring form he helped himself to 1-2 prior to half time. The Rower persevered and scored some nice points before a goal arrived on the stroke of half time to keep them in touch.

However Mooncoin upped the anti in the second period and the introduction of some fringe players ensured they had a comfortable victory, although a late rally from the visitors ensured a tense finish.
Both sides tried hard and the effort was good even though some of the hurling was substandard. The mentors will be pleased with their teams’ effort and will look forward to the next round of games with some confidence.
