soccer player. He has played two hundred and seven games and has scored nine
hundred and ninety seven goals. The team he play’s with has reached the Cup
Final and the whole team is depending on him, especially his good friend Spanner,
who is only on the team because his mother washes the team jersey’s. His
father, Rod Taylor, is an ex-United and ex-England player. Del.’s trainer said
that he would be a lot better than his father. Del is thinking of quitting
football because of all the pressure but he doesn’t know how to tell his teammates. Soon it was time for steelhouse to run out onto the City Dome Astro
Soccer Pitch with Del leading the way. They were ready to start the Stockdale
under 12,s cup and so they began the match. Ten minutes into the match disaster
struck for Steelhouse. They were too confident as they attacked they left only one
defender back Porky, he tripped and Vernon Park got in to score. 1-0 to Vernon
Park. A few minutes later Del got a goal back for Steelhouse to make it 1-1 and
then the whistle blew for half time. Most of the second half was uneventful but
in the last five minutes Del gave a penalty away and Vernon Park converted the
penalty 2-1 to Vernon Park. Straight from the tip off, Del scored 2-2. There was
one minute left and Del once again attacked Vernon Park’s goal. He ran
straight through the defence with only the keeper to beat but he passed to his
friend Spanner. He couldn’t miss and he didn’t. He scored and Steelhouse won on a
score line of 3-2. It was a very good book for those who follow
soccer. We would give it 10/10. By John Ryan and John Scanlon.

Rob Childs Main characters: Andrew, grandad, Chris and the Headmaster It's
the semi- final and Danebridge school are winning. As the third goal went
in,
the
players knew they had booked their place in the final. Andrew, who is the
captain of the team, tries to calm down the rest of the team. Chris, who
is Andrew's younger brother, goes to every match with his Granddad but has never
been lucky enough to make the squad. As the team go in celebrating, Chris
wishes he could be in there with the team as well. As usual Andrew is the
first to ask when the next match would be, knowing the next match was the
final. The trainer replied: "It's in three weeks". The two lads
went home telling their mother the great news and the final was to be held in
three weeks. Their mother looked up in disarray and said "But your
Aunty is getting married that day". They didn't know what to tell the
principal. Andrew told Chris if he said a word he would kill him.
Chris had now been training with the squad and had to tell the principal for the
good of the team. Chris told his Granddad and he agreed with Chris.
He took his advice and told the principal that they couldn't go because of the
wedding. Andrew gets sick and can't go to the wedding. Instead he
goes to the final but he doesn’t start. The match starts and Danebridges
keeper gets injured but no sub- keeper is on the bench, because Chris is at the
wedding. They leave him in goals for a small while to see if he runs it
off but he doesn't. The trainer has only one option - to run to the church
and hopefully catch Chris before the wedding starts. He does and after a
bit of begging he's off with him in the car. Chris was in his best clothes
but had no option. Danebridge are down 2-0 by the time Chris arrives.
Danebridge go on and win 3-2 thanks to some excellent saves Verdict:9-10 We docked point because we felt it was a bit short but would still recommended it to age groups in and between 8-11 year olds by Nicky Flanagan & John McAuliffe
