U21 Championship 2004 Semi Final: St Nick's 0-15 St Michael's 2-4................[photos]

A very competent and effecient performance saw off the challenge of St Michaels last Sunday in difficult conditions. Playing against the strong wind it was all square 0-4 to 0-4 just on half time, when an error in defence led to a Michaels goal. However once we settled in the second half we took control, seven unanswered poinsts were scored, Michaels got a second goal, but again the response was excellent and four points ensured what in the end was a comfortable win.

Eoghan Geaney kicked 0-9, Donal Cronin, Keith Mc Carthy and Davy Cunningham scored, but the introduction of John Kearney was crucial, he kicked two points and also laid on a couple more, and after his recent accident it was great to see him back in action. David Goggin, Ben Murphy, Eoin O'Sullivan and Cian Mc Carthy all played well. No date yet for the final as Nemo Rgs and Bishopstown must play there semi-final in late April.

U21 Championship 2004 Quarter Final: St Nick's 5-5 Mayfield 0-10

The Under 21's followed our win over Douglas with a ten point victory over Mayfield last Sunday. It was by no means an impressive display but it was a job well done in difficult circumstances.

First half goals from Cian Mc Carthy and Donal Cronin, had us in front and further goals from Cian, Diarmuid Dorris a rocket, and David Busteed gave us a comfortable win. Gavin Moylan, David Goggin and Tim Dennehy also played well.

U21 Championship 2004 1st Round: St Nick's 2-7 Douglas 0-12

A great game that was won in the closing stages, with a match winning point from Gavin Moylan after good play by Davey Cunningham and Kevin Herlihy. A good start thanks to a goal from David Busteed and points from captain Liam Leahy however by half time it was all square at 0-6 to 1-3.

We started the second half well with another Busteed point, Eoghan Geaney had two good points but Douglas forged three points in front 0-12 to 1-6 with six minutes remaining. But champions die hard Kevin Herlihy was fouled and Eoghan Geaney cooly slotted the leveller, and then came Gavin's winner and it's to Mayfield on Sunday.
