So how did we do all this?

Here's the science, pay attention now!

Safety with speed...

HR223 hulls are designed with a deep-V hull configuration that gives a cutting entry to the wavefrom of the water. The deep-V widens progressively, to create a reverse chine hull which provides maximum progressive lateral stability and performance.

The HR223 is fuel efficient....

Because of the HR223's planing attitude there is less drag and minimal wake created. The advanced scientific design ensures that as the boat travels forward the water impinges on curved surfaces that are designed to make maximum beneficial use of the hydrodynamic thrust from the water. This means that as speed increases, so does the lateral stability, an essential factor in a high speed angling craft where load shift in the cockpit is an ever present problem. This in itself is a revolutionary feature.

Building....
The Ultimate Offshore Anglers Craft...

Co-operation and production skills as their best have given us the HR223. The technology is the latest...the construction is tough. She’s rugged in design, built to cope with Atlantic conditions found off the West coast of Ireland, but also built to cope with the short choppy seas found around the other coasts of Europe. We are building a boat that of unequalled performance in seas that would break the back of lesser craft. A craft that could utilise its speed to cruise faster and drier while giving a comfortable ride...all this is constantly being proven by our owners. Built in SW Ireland at Tralee by O’Sullivan’s Marine Ltd, the HR223 is a sportfishing or workboat of the highest specifications. Innovative use of GRP materials are are incorporated within a design specification light years ahead of the normal angling craft, and makes the HR223 a world class leader.
She is robust, safe, and she is fast....but how did we do that?
Strength comes not only from quality materials...the boatbuilder has to know where to put them. So we designed a GRP stringer grid forming a chassis that fits perfectly into the interior hull conformation. There is no wood in the HR223 below the waterline. This stringer provides structural integrity, giving an effective longitudinal and lateral bonding that gives massive strength to the hull. At the same time the stringer grid provides a perfect platform onto which the floor and engine mounts are fitted. The grid form creates the boxes that form separate buoyancy compartments. Every HR223 built and supplied with a fitted engine undergoes sea trials before delivery to our customer.
