Myself and Dan were pleasantly surprised to receive an email from Tommy Makems nephew Peter to inform us that the committee of the Tommy Makem Festival Of Traditional Song wanted to present us with a framed scroll for our years of dedication as "Keepers Of Tradition". We were treated with great hospitality as expected as we have been going to this festival for years. We performed at the concert of the formal presentation at Armagh City Hotel along with the other recipients. Then at a concert in the Cow shed the night after and at Toss's cottage until 4 a.m. There is a healthy tradition in South Armagh of Storytelling, poetry and music. Again thanks to the committee and the Makem and extended family for everything. We will cherish those accolades forever. Tommy Makem was one of my biggest inspirations along with Luke Kelly and Pete Seeger. As I always say "Pete Seeger is like the Tommy Makem Of America!"
