The Downs G.A.A. Club Notes
Division
5
Our Division 5 team had two matches in the last
week with one win and one defeat being the order of the day.
The
Downs 1-10 Killucan 0-7
The Downs recorded their fourth win in this
league following our exciting encounter with neighbours Killucan on Wednesday
last. The Downs gained the upperhand from the throw-in, scoring straight from
the start. We kept the pressure on for most of the half before allowing
Killucan back into the game with two late points.
We led 0-9 to 0-2 at the break.
On the resumption of play we added three quick
points before Killucan took control for a while, to reduce the lead to just two
points.
The Downs, however, finished the stronger and
sealed the win with a late goal.

The
Downs 3-9 Caulry 3-10
On Sunday last our Division 5 team had their
second outing of the week. This time however luck was not on our side with
Caulry coming out on top by the minimum margin following a high scoring
encounter.
After a very poor first half performance in
which we conceded three goals we trailed at the interval by five points.
We upped our game considerably after the break
and aided by a goal immediately after half-time we brought the game to our
opponents. However we were unable to catch Caulry and they held on for their
one point victory.
