THE DOWNS G.A.A. NOTES

Senior Championship

The Downs 0 – 8                       Moate 1 - 8:

We suffered our first defeat of the Championship at the hands of Moate in Castletown last Sunday.

The seeds of defeat were sown in the first half when we managed to score just one point.  What was most disappointing about this period was that we totally dominated the first fifteen minutes but failed to make it count on the scoreboard.  Moate at this point crashed home their goal and quickly added their first point to leave us chasing the game.  Despite some promising attacks, we went in at the break 1 – 3 to 0 – 1 down.

On the resumption of play, we played with greater heart and determination and began to make some in-roads into the Moate lead but Moate always managed to get their scores at crucial stages to keep their lead around the three point margin.

We will now have a few weeks to dig down and turn around this result in the next round.
