THE DOWNS GAA NOTES

ACL DIVISION 5

                        The Downs                         Loughnavalley

                                       2-11                                                                   3-7

Our third team got back to winning ways with a hard fought one point victory over Loughnavalley on Saturday night last. Despite dominating for long periods of the first half we went in at the break two points down 0-4 to 1-3. On the resumption of play Loughnavalley extended their lead to four points before we started to play as a unit. Going into the last few minutes we held a four point lead which Loughnavalley cut to the minimum with a goal but we held out for the win.

Team: Senan Maguire, Sean Carroll, Paul Rowan, Colm Corroon, Karl Gaye, Thomas Smith, Anthony Corroon, Paul Shanley, Mark Leavy, Martin Egerton, Kieran Carroll, Brian Wright, Pat Leavy, Ronan Colgan, Matt Maguire.

Under !4 League

                        The Downs                          Kilbeggan

7-5       1-2

Our under 14’s gained their second win in a row, with a great team performance against a spirited Kilbeggan side. The key factor was our ability to move the ball at speed when attacking and a greater accuracy in front of goal.

Team: Brendan Cleary, Greg Crowley, Mark Dalton, Philip Smith, Michael Ward, William Newman, Camine Keegan, Oliver Merlehan, Stephen Devine, Darren Price, Darren Duncan, Darren Raleigh, Joe Raleigh, Paul Kelleghan, David Flynn & Niall Nolan.

We also wish Sean O’Leary a speedy recovery from his injury.
