Galway Rose History:

The Galway Rose competition was first held in 1967 and was won by Mary Manning of Oughterard. However, this was followed a hiatus of 8 years when no competition was held.

In 1975 the competition was restarted and has continued to the present day. From then until now almost 500 young women have tried to win the title of Galway Rose and, of the 29 who have, 3 have also been crowned Rose of Tralee.
