I wish to extend a warm welcome to all visitors to our school website

Our aim is, through modern technological advances, to disseminate information about our school, for the benefits of pupils, parents and teachers and also to establish and maintain contact with other educational establishments, past students and other interested parties and individuals.

Portumna Community School came into existence in 1990 through the amalgamation of St. Brigid's Vocational School (estd. 1932)and Portumna College (estd. 1972) which grew from the amalgamation of Maria Regina college (estd. 1957) and St. Molaisse's College (estd. 1956).

Our school crest links St Brigid's Cross with the crown of Our Lady, symbols of school and parish. The motto "Criost Romham agus Liom" invokes Our Redeemer to inspire and direct each student's learning and training.

I am personally very pleased to be associated with the establishment of this website . I earnestly hope that through these pages former students from all the constituent amalgamated schools will re-establish links with former classmates and friends. We encourage our new web friends to contact us regularly, give us information on progress since leaving school, recall for us school experiences and help us build up our archive section.

We in turn will keep you up to date on school and community related events, will build up a directory of email addresses and create a library of photographic and published material.

Happy Surfing! And do tell your acquaintances about our site.

Le gach dea ghuí,

David Leahy
