Quigleys Point Swifts were founded in 1975 by Donal Murray. The team comprised of locals from the surrounding Iskaheen and Muff areas.

Starting with one senior mens team they enjoyed great success in the local Inishowen League and later on in the FAI Junior Cup.

In 1985 they then joined the Derry & District League (D&D). In successive seasons they won Division 4, 3, and two, collecting the Mc Alinden Cup on the way. Two years later the team won the Division title and the coveted Bull Park 7s against a team which contained senior league players.

In 1996 Vincy Mc Colgan and Pat Mc Gonagle started the clubs first youth team. 14 years on the club has U/13, U/15 and U/18 boys and girls teams

In the 90's "The Point" entered a team in the Inishowen Reserve League, and then a third team. To be continued.................

The People behind Quigleys Point Swifts.

Vincy Mc Colgan.

Having played with the club since he was 15 (which is a long time ago) Vincy has been heavily involved in the Point at all levels. He has played in the FAI Junior Cup, Inishowen League, and the D&D and captained the team to a lot of success. He is considered one of the best players ever to put the Point jersey on and is still one of the key people at the club. He is the man reponsoble for the creation of the youth teams at the club which now caters for a lot of children in the area.

Pat Mc Gonagle.

Pat, got involved with the Point around 1996, primarily with the youth teams. Previously he was heavily invoved with Foyle Harps in Derry. Having taking over the senior team in the 1990's Pat is nowinvolved with the undergage boys and ladies teams, Pat is one of the people who make the club tick.

Bryan Bell.

Bryan joined the Point as a 17 year old goalkeeper in 1985, having played for Inistitute, Culmore and Oxford United Stars. Having played for the point for 5 years he then joined Fanad United. He went on to win the Ulster Senior League with former QPS player Paul Mc Geoghan and then went on to let 7 goals past him in the game against Derry City. Brian rejoined the Point after this game in the Brandywell and went on to manage the senior team in 1998. Brian is also the manager of the QPS U/18 boys team and is the guy who has put a lot of effort into the development of the clubs ground.

Sean Gallagher and Tomas Mc Colgan.

These guys deserve a mention due to te fact that they founded the QPS reserve team. They were the ideal pair for the job because they have a lot of contacts in the local hostilaries and they managed to create a few miracles,,mainly getting and keeping Paul "Baggio" Mc Callian on a football pitch. This duo where behind the QPS Reserve Team who won the Reserve League and got to the Final of the Fr. O Gara. Behind this duo's management talents lie a cultered right back and a lighting quick winger,,,,,,,a great assest to any club. Having converter the "G-man" from a Cross Dynamoes supporter to a Swifts man, Golly-G got just reward for his effort within the club,,,by being Voted Club Man of the year.

This section is sponosered by Tomas Mc Colgans Butchers, Muff,,,and AN Post, The Grove.

Liam Barron.

Liam joined the club from Redcastle having formally played for Fernbank Utd. He is also one of the guys heavily involved in the coaching and management of the ladies and underage teams. Liam was part of the team which won the D&D championship and various Inishowen titles and Top Four Cups. He has also reprsented the Ulster Provincial team.
Laurence Mc Colgan. One of the first player to ever put on the Poiny jersey. Laurenece was the left-back in one of the best, if not the best QPS team. He is now part of the clubs adminstration and is still an important part of the club.
Margie Mc Colgan. Margie, the long suffering wife of Vincy is part of the QPS committee and has contributed a lot of time and effort into fundraising for the club. She has been the person responsible for generating ideas for funding and on the odd occassion giving the referee a bit of stick.
