The school is on a hill and it has a lovely sight. You learn a lot in this school and we do lovely art.
We have a church down the lane from are school and a football pitch across the road. 5th class and
6thclass are in one class and we have one teacher. We get PE on Fridays. We do jobs in are school
and we do plays. Every year we have a school disco.

COMING TO RATHENISKA FROM PORTLAOISE.
Coming to school in Ratheniska when Im from Portlaoise is a change and would be a change for any one else if there if they were from Portlaoise . I like it even though its very small its still nice to come here . We have a big football pitch which has 3 different parts and also with dressing rooms , then down the road we have a church an a hall and you can also do a nature walk around here. Theres nice scenery around here and its very quite unlike Portlaoise schools because they would be around cars and streets. How we get to school is by a bus and actually a lot of kids come on our school bus from Portlaoise . The bus has been coming to Ratheniska for 15 years. We all get along very well and Iknow every one from the school. But it also does take a half an hour to get to school and back but its still enjoyable because Im with my friends. I LIKE THE SCHOOL VERY MUCH.

OUR SCHOOL’S ART WORK
One example of our schools art work is our schools
shed.
All the children of Ratheniska N.S have all taken
part in painting our shed. An artist came in to help draw this theme of
kings, queens , soldiers and peasants on how they lived years ago.
Another example of our art work is our schools oil tank . We didn’t exactly paint it our self ’s but the artist did. She has painted a sun on the front and are earth on the back and also around it she has painted the galaxy.
Are third example of outdoor art work would be our flower bed .We have all done a little bit of gardening like planting some daffodils and other flowers. Its not done by paints or other art supplies but we would like to recommend it as our art work because we all tuck part in it .
So now for our art work inside .We have done art work with fabrics, clays , paints ,pastels , straws , glitters , chalk and even just normal writing pencils .
Our school takes part in a lot of art competitions like GAA or pollution or our interests .
We even do art in history and English like drawing of what it was like and title pages.
They were all our example of art work.
