na mBunscoil
THIS WAS RATHENISKA’S TEAM 1 ASHLING SHIELS
WRITTEN BY VICKY KERRY AND LYDIA WARD Ratheniska Vs KNOCK On the 12th of September 2002 Knock came to our pitch in Ratheniska. Knock was our first team to play against in the Cuman na Mbunscoil. It was a very exciting and challenging game. Rathrniska played really well in the first half with Lydia Ward playing in the forwards Scoring 2 great goalsand a point, Laura O’ Connell playing along side Heather Ging in the backs on the left wing scoring a great goal and a point with her left foot. Ratheniska were a very strong and determin team. At half time the score was Ratheniska 3-2 and Knock 0-0. Knock came back in the second half and scored
1-9. The finalscore of the match was Ratheniska 4-4 and Knock 1-9.
The match was a very skillful but challenging. There was a lot of
rough challenges in the game. Ratheniska got a good few frees but
gave some hard tackles. Laura O’ Connell got a very hard tackle by
one of Knocks midfielders. The tackle was made while Laura was soloing
the ball up the field. She was triped up and fell and hit her head
on the ground. She got a free for it but just mist the poast.
Lydia Ward,Margaret Mulhare ,Heather Ging also got hard tackles.
Ratheniska Vs Clough It was a windy day on the 19th of September in
Ballacolla and we were playing Clough. Our nerves filled the air as the
football was thrown into sky.At first Margaret got the ball and kicked
the ball down the field. We played very hard football and continued to feel
excited and determined to score the points that we needed. At half time
the presure was on us.We needed to stay in the lead to win the match and
we intended to do that After about 10 minutes into the game our coaches
Mr.and Mrs Stapleton started taking off our sixth class playersand let
the younger ones on.Near the end of the match the score was Ratheniska
3:2 Clough 1:4.Our intentions were very strong to win Cumann na mBunscoil
but it was very hard to do so.Sarah was playing a very good game until
she fell trying to catch the ball and hit her head off the pavement. In
the backs Heather played brilliantly and kicked the ball out swiftly any
time it came down the field.Ashling our historic goalkeeper stopped an
enourmous amount off goalsfor our team.Clough put up a great fight for
us and we want to thank you for doing so.
Ratheniska vs Castletown On a wet day of the 3rd of October we played
a great team called Castletown.
Ratheniska V Ballacolla On the 10th of Oct we
went to Ballacolla . It was another
great victory for Ratheniska . The final
score was 4.1 to Ratheniska 2.2 to
Ballacolla. The team for this match

In Summer 2002, the
Irish team were training for the World Cup in Saipan,Japan.Their manager
Mick McCarthy sent a good player called Roy Keane home because he was saying
that Mick was a bad manager,a bad person and a bad player. It wasn’t really
Roy’s fault. What he was saying was true because McCarthy was a useless
manager. He picked a pitch that was like a car park
SURVEY ON SAIPAN ROW I did a survey on the row in Saipan by going round to 1st,2nd,
In 1st and 2nd 20 people thought Mick was wrong,3 people thought Roy was wrong and 4 people thought both of them were wrong. In 3rd and 4th, 4 people thought Mick was wrong,19 people thought Roy was wrong and 3 people thought both of them were wrong. And finally, in 5th and 6th, 12 people thought Mick was wrong,8 people thought Roy was wrong and 5 people thought both of them were wrong. When I was asking 5th and 6th who thought that Mick was wrong I put up my own hand for that because I thought Mick was wrong.
