project into the residental/respite needs of adults in
the Mid Western Region was carried out and completed in
2000.
Evalution
Evalution
of residental and respite services are carried out on an
ongoing basis with all the users
- A
formal consumers meeting is held quarterly.
- The
day Service was formally evaluated through a
users focus group
- The
children's service was evaluated with users and
parents.
Quality
- To
ensure a quality service integrated,
interdisciplinary care plans were introduced in
2000
- Occupational
and physiotherapy assesments were introduced in
2000 and plans are being implmented.
- Psychological
/counselling services were introduced for
residents in 2000. Many of the residents have
been residents in institutions in the State since
childhood and while to date none have expressed
the wish to attend the Commision it is hopoed
that this service will enable them to deal with
issues if thy exit and to utilise all channels
open to them if they so wish.
- An
awarness, assertiveness ans esteem building
project has been introduced for staff and
residents in 2000. The objective of this project
is to develop each person's awarness of their own
self worth and the self worth of others thus
maximising respect and trust and minimising the
risk of abusive behaviour or practices within the
groups.
- Fire
and health and safety measures were evaluated and
upgraded and training carried out.
Value for
money
- All
expenditure in 2000 was evaluated to ensure best
use of resources, finanical and personnal.
- Risk
managment audit was introduced thus minimising
injury and consequent lost working time.
- Planned
maintenance contracts for all equipment and plant
hire were executed.
