Intuition

Direct perception of truths, facts etc, independently of any reasoning process.   A truth or fact thus perceived.  Philosophical: an immediate cognition of an object not inferred or determined by a previous cognition of the same subject.   Any object or truth so discerned.    Pure, untaught, non-inferential knowledge.    The ability to sense or feel accurately the possibilities and probabilities for accomplishing a goal in all situations.    It may be described as a ‘Super Logic’ in which the human brain compares its historical matrix of multiple quadrillions of bits of data with a new matrix of experience.   It is what causes that sudden flash of insight (Archimedes and his ‘Eureka!’), that sudden stroke of military genius (Nelson), that sudden deep realization that something will succeed (Walt Disney and Fantasia).   The feeling we experience in such situations is the body’s reaction to the brain’s calculations.   In most cases the intuition is correct, and is a skill that can be learned and developed.   The great trust theirs to a far greater extent than their contemporaries trust their own.   The German computer expert Falk Langhammer has said “subconscious thought, which we call intuition, is a million times more speedy than the most rapid of computers”.
