MULTIMEDIA STUDIES

 

This is a one year Post Leaving Cert Course

OBJECTIVES OF COURSE The multimedia industry includes a broad range of products and services, depending on a wide variety of talents and skills, both technical and artistic. This particular course focuses on the skills required for the development of multimedia resources for areas such as education, training, entertainment and communications. These resources include guides and manuals on CD-ROM, computer based training modules, business presentations, games etc. It is estimated that the multimedia industry in Ireland could provide up to 12,000 jobs within the next 5 years. This course will provide students with the skills to enter employment in the multimedia industry or with the foundation to undertake further studies in this area.

COURSE CONTENT Computer Illustration Graphics, Desktop Publishing, Graphic Design, Web Authoring, Image Processing, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Communications, Work Experience

WORK EXPERIENCE The course will include a work experience placement in a relevant employment.

ENTRY STANDARD Applicants must have completed a Leaving Cert./Applied Leaving Cert. course or equivalent.

CERTIFICATION All of the modules are certified at Level 2 by the FETAC. The overall award is certified by CDVEC.

ENROLMENT Interviews are held from March to May by appointment and in early September.
