College is an exciting and challenging time. At Ros Geal, students live in a congenial, inviting atmosphere and have every opportunity to make the best of their time in college. The warm, friendly environment gives students an immediate opportunity to mix with students from other faculties, countries, and cultures.
 
The residence hosts regular cultural and social events such as:

  * sports-related activities
  * weekends away
  * student seminars
  * concert outings
  * guest speakers
  * philosophy seminars
 
Because Ros Geal is a student residence, it is also a focus of culture; a place to develop your ideas and understanding of the world in which we live.  Annually, students attend and help organise seminars on topics of interest to themselves and fellow students. 

During the summer of 2004, Ros Geal residents and Inkwell Youth Group led a local community initiative, ‘European Cinema and Identity’, which was nominated for an EU award. The project included a weekend session on film technique and theory with professionals at the Galway Film Centre.  Students also attended and helped organise a volunteering conference, in collaboration with students from other universities, entitled, ‘Can do, Can you?’, with special guest speaker Mary Davis, CEO of the Special Olympics.  In addition, each year residents from Ros Geal have the opportunity to travel to Rome for the International Student Congress, UNIV. Planning is already underway for World Youth Day 2005 in Cologne, Germany.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS / LANGUAGE COURSES
 
Each summer and throughout the year, Ros Geal welcomes international students coming to Ireland to improve their English or participate in one of the many cultural exchanges organised by Ros Geal or Inkwell Youth Group, in which Irish students are also welcome to participate.
