Using Reflexology to beat stress
Often described as "Nature’s Tranquilliser", Reflexology helps to minimise or alleviate various stress-related disorders. Harmony and wellbeing are achieved and stress responses brought under control. As a result, a person may find that they sleep better and wake up with renewed energy.
A therapist will suggest relaxation techniques to a client suffering from stress, bearing in mind that over 80% of the ailments we exhibit are caused by stress. One particularly effective method is that of visualisation, replacing immediate problems and worries with a sense of peace and well being in a secure place.
Since most of us do not breathe well, simple breathing exercises are always used with people exhibiting signs of stress or tension. Deep breathing uses the lungs to their full capacity, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.
Pressure applied to the solar plexus area of the foot as a person inhales augments the benefits. Stimulation to the reflexes of the brain helps to release seratonin, the body’s natural tranquilliser and mood enhancer.
