The Euro will be in circulation on Jan 1st. 2002. There are twelve countries taking part in the Euro;  Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Each of the countries have their own emblem on the back of the cent coins.

One good thing about the Euro is when we are travelling to any of the twelve countries we don't have to change the money and the bad thing about it is may confuse  people because they have been dealing the Punt for over thirty years.

A Euro is worth 79p.

 £1 is worth  1.27 euros.

The Irish coins  will include a harp and the word "Eire".

There was a competition to design the Euro Notes and an Austrian man won.
