Azy's Diary

First Entry

Jan 29th....... Hi! Today is my first entry so I'll explain. I'll be telling you about some of both my school's and my past achievements, daily news and extracts from my own diary. Hope you enjoy it!

Second Entry

Sept ?......Dear diary, I was so nervous but it was worth it. We beat our opponents in the football final 4-4 to 5 points. This is brilliant.

Third Entry

Jan 29th....... Today Shaz, Nicky, Sandy and I travelled to the Hazel for the Credit Union Quiz. I think we did well. Last year we won and even though, this year, we came fourth, I'm happy with the outcome.

Fourth Entry

Feb 12th...... We played the first of the two semi-finals today. It was really tough, but we won by two baskets. I hope we'll go all the way!

Fifth Entry

Feb 15th.....Dear diary, We played our second semi-final today. Our opponents had an advantage. We played in an indoor court and the roof was really low, so the ball would bounce back to you when it went to high and to top all that it turns out that they had four outdoor courts. That makes me so mad!!!

Sixth Entry

June 20th...... Dear diary, we went to Clara- Lara for our school tour, oh yeah and Glendalough, but lets get to the good bit! It was brilliant. There was a huge water slide and a go cart track and I won a few times... well, only once, but that's not the point, em, oh yeah, there was boats, a playground and a Chipper, that served lovely burgers!! It was the best school tour ever!

Seventh Entry

August 19th....... Dear diary, I'll really miss Spain. It was one of the best holidays I ever had. I hope my pen pal keeps in touch. I can't believe I actually got a tan!! What I'll miss most, is the spaghetti bolognaise, the pizza and the gorgeous pancakes!!!

Eighth  Entry

Feb 19th........ Hi again! I hope you enjoyed my diary. But if you'd like I have a 2000 essay that you'd like to read. Enjoy!

Another name for the year 2000? The year that flew. 2000 was a great year for me, but I think that you'll all agree that it really was a short year. One of my greatest and scoil Eimhín Naofa's greatest achievements of last year was winning the Cumann na mBunscol U11's football league. After being deprived of the U11's Community games title, we were determined to defeat all the teams that stood in our way to the cup, and we did just that. The final took place in Clane, where we had our toughest game yet. We flew to victory, winning 4-4 to 5 points. There were great celebrations in the Hazel Hotel, where we were presented with both county medals and a beautifully framed picture of the team. The celebrations soon died down and all was back to normal.

Earlier that year I got through to the Credit Union Table Quiz, where after many questions, Orla, Sarah, Nicola and I, found ourselves in first place. We went on to claim the £20, the plaque and the money box. I am proud to have made this achievement and next year I hope to go all the way!

On December 21st, both my parents, my sister and I waited anxiously in the arrival area of Dublin Airport for my brother to arrive. I hadn't seen him in two years and to see him again, I couldn't put it into words. It was great to hear his stories and see his pictures. The excitement soon died down, but I'm still happy to see him each day.

2000 brought much joy to me and although the Millennium was brilliant, I hope that 2001 will be even better!
