On Thursday 21st. of September 2000 two Kildare superheroes visited Scoil Eimhín Naofa bringing with them the "Holy Grail" of Leinster football; no, not the Sam, but the Leinster Cup. They were welcomed in a vast sea of bunting and flags. The two players were Ronan Quinn and Christy Byrne who did Kildare proud in the Leinster finals and various other games of the league. The pupils and teachers welcomed the players with cheers and songs showing that even if they didn't bring back Sam, they are still heroes to children and adults alike. (By Aisling) Ode to the Kildare Football Team To Ronan: on occasion of his visit to our school.
You're our hero, you're our man You have the Leinster, but not the Sam But we don't worry, we don't care You play football with Kildare. To Christy: on occasion of his visit to our school Christy is our goalie, he stands before the net Such a performance, we'll never forget We cheer him today as he comes to our school The Lilies are great the Lilies rule. |
