MUSICAL TOTS

Pre Instrumental course for 4 - 7 year old children (Classes grouped according to age) is designed to introduce students to music making in an enjoyable and friendly context. Children will be encouraged to develop their natural responses to music through singing, movement, aural awareness and playing percussion instruments. They will also be introduced to the instruments of the orchestra. This early background is most important for successful future lessons in a specific musical instrument. While the aim of the course is to provide an entertaining introduction to music for young children, the course follows a carefully devised plan for musical progression. This is an ideal method for the teacher to assess the child's ability.

INSTRUMENTAL TUITION

Instrumental tuition is available in both Violin and Cello.

Instruments are available for hire from Sligo Academy of Music.

THEORY AND MUSICIANSHIP

Group classes in Theory are available Grades 1 - 8.

All instrumental students must attend theory up to grade 5.

JUNIOR AND LEAVING CERTIFICATE MUSIC

Full syllabus covered for state Examinations.

ORCHESTRA

This will commence in January 2001 for all instrumental students of the Sligo Academy of Music.

CHOIR

CHAMBER MUSIC / ENSEMBLE PLAYING

Students are expected to take part in the various group activities of the Academy - choir and orchestra - and to perform in concerts.
