Sandymount School

Our school is a non denominational mixed day school under the Department of Education. It caters for children with a physical disability who require an individual educational programme.

There are 12 teachers in our school and the pupils range in age from 4 - 18 years. The pupil teacher ratio is from  8-1 to 6-1.  The Post- Primary Section caters for those pupils aged 15 - 18 years. The Department of Education provides a Special Needs Assistant for each class, also a number are appointed on a one to one basis.

The improvement in the pupil teacher ratio has greatly affected the quality of service that our school provides.  Much more time can be given to the individual needs of each pupil.  This, added to the move to our new purpose built building, marks a huge leap forward in the provision of education for pupils with disability  These developments also coincided with the re-launch of C.P.I. now known as 'Enable Ireland'
