Football CHAMPIONS | Hurling. | Sciath na Scol | Indoor Soccer |
A variety of sports are catered for in Scoil Mhuire Lourdes,
with a special emphasis on Gaelic games.
The school has the superb facility of a purpose-built Sports Hall which is used
for a wide variety of indoor activities including basketball, indoor hurling
and football, volleyball, short tennis, uni-hoc, table-tennis and dodgeball.
During the winter months indoor hurling is a favoured activity with all the
classes and internal class leagues are organized for the middle and senior classes.
The school is very fortunate to have the services of two excellent Gaelic games
coaches, Joe McGrath (Carrigdhoun Schools Coach) and Neilie O Keeffe ( Carrigaline
G.A.A. Schools Coach). The school gets great support from the local G.A.A. club
in terms of use of pitches, supply of playing equipment, transport and coaching.
The school participates in the annual Sciath na Scol indoor and outdoor Hurling
and Football competitions and has recorded some notable successes over the years,
the most recent being Section 2 Hurling winners 2000, 4th class indoor football
winners 2001 and Section 3 Football winners 2002.
Athletics are also well catered for and the school takes part in the annual
Cork Primary School Sports. The school has produced a number of County Champions
over the years, the most recent being Aaron Drummond; under 7 County Champion
2002.
