Susan McCreesh

WITH deep regret SAOIRSE records the passing of Mrs Susan McCreesh of Camloch, South Armagh, mother of hunger striker Raymond McCreesh. She died on October 15.
Susan McCreesh stood valiantly by her son Raymond during the long agony of his hunger-strike until he expired on May 21, 1981. She did not permit any medical intervention during his last days in a coma.

At all times in spite of her personal ordeal she abided faithfully by his wishes. This year she phoned Bundoran regretting her inability to attend the annual hunger strike commemoration march. In other years she was present and took part.

On October 18 her funeral took place to St. Patrick's Cemetery, Cullyhanna. Republicans salute her strong and courageous memory.

Deepest sympathy is conveyed to her family, Patsy, Marie, Father Brian, Bridie, Malachy, Michael and Teresa, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.
