"Sweet Child" wins an AMA for "Favourite Single" and an MTV award for "Best Rock/Metal Video"

By now "Appetite" has sold 17 million copies and "Lies" has sold more than 6 million copies.

Now "Appetite" has made history as Geffen's top selling album and in all was to stay in the Billboard 100 for 147 weeks, ending in July 1990.

March.

"Paradise City" is released in the UK and give Guns their first UK top 10 single. The video for the song, features footage from their "Donington" appearance. The single peaks at no. 6.

In America Guns are supposed to play the "Rock And A Hard Place" AIDS benefit Concert, but pull out because gay activists object to Axl's "Allegedly" Homophobic lyrics in "One In A Million". The event was eventually postponed.

May/June.

A remix of "Sweet Child O'Mine", rises to no. 6 in the UK charts.

One month later "Patience" is released in the UK and reaches no.10.

August.

Izzy is arrested for making a public disturbance, he urinated on a floor, verbally abused a stewardess and smoked in a non-smoking area, on a US air flight.

In the UK "Nightrain" makes it to no.17.

October.

Guns play two gigs with "The Rolling Stones" at the L.A. Coliseum. Axl sensationally threatens, that it maybe his last performance, if certain members of the band don't stop "Dancin'with Mr.Brownstone". This messages seems to get across, as the offending members begin to get cleaner.
