Located within Newcastle West and its environs are the Desmond Banqueting Hall,the beautiful Demesne, Glenquin Castle, Barnagh Tunnel with its spectacular tunnel and views, Barnagh Landscaped Gardens. The River Arra - Newcastle West's main river - it being a tributary of the River Deel has a good stock of Salmon and Trout. It is known to be one of the best Trout rivers for fishing in Ireland. Walking.

The Great Southern Trail - are a local community group working to develop the Limerick to Tralee section of the trail so that members of the local communities and visitors to the area can explore this beautiful region in a safe, leisurely way by foot or bicycle. The Southern Trail is a unique 53 mile stretch of countryside in West Limerick/North Kerry. It is the route taken by the Limerick - Tralee Railway Line which opened in 1867 / 1880 and closed in 1975 / 1977.
