Are There Different Types Of Membership?

Yes, most of our members have secured union recognition with the employer and they have Company Union agreements which enable us to defend their rights, represent their interests and negotiate on their behalf on all aspects of their employment conditions. These employments are known as unionised employments and generally you are informed by the employer or the union representatives when you commence employment that you have the right to join the union. Most unionised employments provide the facility of deducting the union contribution directly from the wages. If the employer does not recognise the union you have the option of confidential membership. As a confidential member you can avail of one to one consultation from us and we will advise you on a confidential basis of how best to excercise your employment rights. Confidential members can have the union contribution paid by direct debit from their bank account or they have the option of calling into the office and paying cash.

What Should I Do If I Want to Join SIPTU?

You should double click on the Membership Form or Direct Debit form below and print. Fill out the form and return to the SIPTU office by post or in person. You should also request a meeting with the Branch Secretary of Assistant Secretary who will explain the benefits of joining in detail. They will also advise you of the type of membership best suited to you.
