To the side of the hull, you can see the block plane.  It's resting on a narrow table I made which has two scrap strips stapled to it 1/4" apart.  There's also a stopper at the far end.  When I need to plane the edge of a strip, I drop it edge-up into the gap between the two strips and plane away. I know I shouldn't have those strips under the hull as glue will drip on them !!  I removed them because that's exactly what happened
