PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE

Body, Administrative

Headed by a member of Seventh Degree who is appointed by the X°, is answerable to the Supreme Council, and may also be a member of same. Provincial Grand Lodge is the term given to the structure which encloses all local bodies and all local departments of national bodies in a geographically defined region. (The defininition of such regions is the perogative of the X°.) When a Provincial Grand Lodge is established, the practical organization of Initiations in the region from Fourth through to Seventh Degree becomes the ultimate responsibility of the Provincial Grand Master/Mistress. This person is also responsible for keeping accurate records of membership in the region and for forwarding copies of the same to the National Secretary.

Provincial Grand Lodges are responsible for collecting annual subscriptions from all members of the Order in the region and forwarding these  to the National Treasurer.

The Provincial Grand Master/Mistress holds executive authority over all Lodges and Chapters within the Province where approval of local byelaws and practices is concerned. They are essentially 'standing inspectors' in this case. They do not, however, have authority to alter National Law. The Supreme Council retains the right to send other Inspectors to the region should it deem fit.

A Provincial Grand Lodge also comprises all of the following.

Local Commanderies of the Seventh Degree (answerable to the X° and the Supreme Council)

Local Regiments of the Sixth Degree (answerable to the X° and the Commanderies)

Local Consistories of Princes of the Royal Secret (answerable to the Supreme Council)

Local Departments of the Grand Tribunal (ordinarily answerable to the Areopagus, Sanctuary & Throne)

It concerns itself primarily with the mechanics of their establishment and growth, the organiztion of initiations, and the collection of their subscription fees. In case of an issue arising with respect to any of the constituent bodies within a Provincial Grand Lodge, the office to which said body is answerable should be contacted by the Provincial Grand Master/Mistress.

A Provincial Grand Lodge does not comprise any part of the Supreme Council, nor the Electoral College, nor the College of Hermetic Science, nor any Body pertinent to the Hermit Triad.

COMMANDERIES OF THE SEVENTH DEGREE

Body, Executive/Military

These Bodies are not concerned at all with the day to day operations of the Order, but solely with its military aspect. They are composed of members of Seventh Degree not on the Supreme Council (to which all Commanderies are answerable), and organised by Province. All regiments of the Sixth Degree in a province are answerable to the local Commandery, and may be placed under the specific command of one of the Sovereign Grand Inspectors General. The purpose of the Commanderies is the tactical deployment of the Knights Kadosch and Dame Companions of the Holy Grail in conformity with the orders issued from the Throne. The Commanderies answer to the Tenth Degree directly in His/Her Office as Most Puissant Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council.
