The Book of the Law The work of the O.T.O.F. is Built upon the foundation of the Law of Thelema - 'Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law', 'Love is the law, love under will.' The source of this Law is an extraordinary document, Liber AL vel Legis, commonly known as 'The Book of the Law. A short three-chapter work which was allegedly dictated to the Magician Aleister Crowley by an entity calling itself Aiwass, whose nature he did not fully understand, but which convinced him that it was in possession of Knowledge and Power far beyond that which we associate with human faculties. An account of the reception of the Book of the Law and the conditions surrounding it is presented in 'The Equinox of the Gods.' While the Order as a whole does accept the validity of The Book of the Law; it is the Postulate upon which the theories behind the Order are built, we do not present it as a dogma which anyone is required to 'believe'. Rather we encourage all to put it to the test, and to base their conclusions on the success of our endeavours, and the fruits of their own research.
