School Tours 2000-2001

National Concert Hall

On the 10th of October, Fifth and Sixth Class went to the National Concert Hall in Earlsfort Terrace. Weeks before we went we received a tape from the National Concert Hall, that told us how we can tell different instruments apart, and what music we would be listening to. Also, our teacher, Ms. McMenamin, taught us all about the musicians that were going to be playing there. On our visit the orchestra played two pieces for us - The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and The Nutcracker Suite. We had a brilliant time there! The performance was funny, exciting and it was the best music I have ever heard. We all thank the National Concert Hall for giving us such a great time . A live orchestra is the BEST music to hear, it just sounds amazing!!!

The Lambert Puppet Theatre

We set off early as soon as everyone came to school. It was a long journey. We saw the puppet shows. The first was Jack and the Beanstalk. We really liked the chicken, Daisy the cow and the harp. After the show we had lunch and then we saw The Selfish Giant. Jack and the Beanstalk was our favourite because it was funny.

  • Clann Lir

On the 15th of March, third to sixth class walked down to the Civic Theatre to see a performance of the Irish legend Clann Lir.There were alot of other schools there, some primary and some secondary schools. The actors were very good and played their parts well.It looked very realistic when they put powder on their faces to look old. Throughout the play there was alot of Irish music and dancing which was very entertaining.

  • Kevin's Story

On the 6th of March, first and second class went to see a play called "Kevin's Story". The story was about a boy called Kevin. He has a twin sister called Molly. He has two friends, they are called Mike and Becky. One day, his teacher asked him to write a story about himself. He wasn't good at anything. He had daydreams and he got into trouble. He wrote all about his daydreams and he won a special prize for his story. My favourite daydream was when he was poisoned.
