The

Golden Tree

For many years a dead tree stood in our playground. A local artist called Eoin Llewellyn put forward the idea that the tree could be painted gold and the pupils could write wishes on to ribbons which would be tied to the upper branches. Every child in this school wrote a wish unto either a red, gold, ivory or white ribbon. The official opening of the Golden Tree took place on the last day of the summer term, 29th June 2000. On that day we invited friends and family to come and see the tree. Photographers from local newspapers came to take photos. Every year gold leaf must be pressed on to the tree to keep it in good condition. Now the tree will always stand for our dreams and wishes.
