NATIONAL
COUNCIL for VOCATIONAL AWARDS (N.C.V.A.)
The National
Council for Vocational Awards was established by the Minister for Education
in 1991 to set, monitor and certify standards for vocation, education and
training programmes.
The Council
makes awards at four levels:

National Foundation
Certificate

National Vocational
Certificate Level 1

National Vocational
Certificate Level 2

National Vocational
Certificate Level 3
The
National Foundation Certificate
enables learners to gain recognition
for:

Specific personal
skills, practical skills and knowledge
-
Basic transferable
skills
-
The enhancement
of individual talents and qualities
-
Achievements and
learning relevant to a variety of progression options.
In April
2000 pupils from St. Martin's Special School successfully completed
Foundation Level Certificates in several subjects for the first time- including
Computer Literacy, Woodwork, Cookery & Nutrition and Horticulture.
