Football

This season for the U-16 football team was promising and exciting but ultimately led to disappointment and yet again, no hint of silverware.

The squad had a great run in the group stages and dispatched their group opponents with confidence and style. This led to a quarter-final clash with the local school; Larkin College.

After a thrilling match which ended 3-3 after extra-time. The match was decided on penalties. The winning penalty trickled agonisingly past keeper Paul Lynch and across the line, admitting Larkin into the semi-final and compounding their status as our "bogey" team.

The clash was further marred by the loss of Thomas Cooney from the tie who suffered a broken ankle after the clash with the goalkeeper. Thomas was a key player throughout the tournament and is wished a speedy recovery.

The U-16 recently played a friendly game against the Institute of Education. The Brunner squad cruised to a 2-1 victory.
