Sprites

For those of you who don't know, sprites are the name given to the image of Sonic, Tails, badniks, rings and anything you can access on debug. Actually, sprites are used in every 2D game but when you click on "Sprites" on a Sonic the Hedgehog site, you really expect to get only one type of sprite.

Sprites are used for hoaxing and fangames mainly but can be used for many other things from web page decoration to using as desktop icons. However this isn't a just a simple sprites page. You see, the Sonic Fangame HQ and Sonic HQ already have numerous zip folders up for download which covers nearly every Sonic sprite that ever occured, well, in the main games anyway.

But what we are doing here is different. Instead of accepting large zip files from people who have spent ages collecting numerous sprites directly from the games, we deal with specialised, edited sprites. Say you've just created or edited a sprite but you don't want to keep it to yourself and want other people to use it as well. Well this is the place to send it. By accepting anything from lone edited sprites to big collections, I aim to create a large collection of edited sprites that can be used by all just by copying the sprites on display.

So that's really the purpose of this section: sprite editors send their pieces of work here for anyone who wants to use them. Well what are you waiting for? Send your sprites to flyingfox@eircom.net .
