My name is Thomas Cosgrave. I am a farmer and I live near Saint Leonards. There are a lot of farmers in St Leonards. Some are pig farmers and some are tillage. But most off them are mixed farmers.

My farm is mostly dairy and tillage but we also have a pig and some hens. There are about twenty cows, ten heifers and seven calves. We have a small farm it is about eighty-five acres.

One night my father went out to look at the cow, because she was ready to calf. Daddy came back inside and called me. We got a rope and we pulled the calf out. The calf stopped breathing. We shook the calf but she still couldn’t breathe. After some time it died. Most calves don’t die at all.
