The senior hurlers had a superb win in the opening match of the Dermot Molloy Cup on Sunday evening last in
Tourlestrane on a scoreline of Tourlestrane 4-5 Tubbercurry 1-9. Both sides were missing a number of influential
players but Tourlestrane hung on for an historic victory, despite a strong second half performance from their
opponents. The team lined out as follows Kieran Leonard, Raymond Gallagher, Peter Gallagher, Mickey Walsh,
Joseph Quinn, James Walsh, Anthony Collins, Adrian Gallagher (2-0) Enda Gallagher, Paul Leonard, Eamonn
Walsh, (1-4) Stephen O’Hara (0-1) Seadna Owens (1-0) John King, Richard Wynne. Subs Michael Quinn for
Raymond Gallagher Gearoid Brennan, Shane Collins, Shane Walsh, Stephen Roddy and Brian Neary. All players
are asked to note that the next match is against Naomh Eoin.

Bingo resumes on Tuesdays at 9:00pm with a minimum prize fund of £1100. The in house Lotto continues to grow

The senior team continued their good from with a convincing win over Castleconnor on Saturday evening last. At a
players meeting after the match Eamonn Walsh was elected captain and David Durkin elected as vice captain.

On Sunday May 27th the junior team will play Curry in the divisional semi final to be played in Tubbercurry at
3:45pm.

Good luck to the Sligo Minor team who face Mayo on Sunday next in Castlebar. Colin Neary and John Marren will
represent Tourlestrane. Congratulations to Colin who will captain the team.

Congratulations to the under 16 team who had a good win over Ballymote on Friday evening last, to earn their
place in the league final. In an exciting encounter both teams played competitive football with a splendid goal just
before the final whistle the decider. Final score Tourlestrane 1-08 Ballymote 0-08. The final of this competition will
be held in 5 weeks time on June 22nd in Sligo IT and will be televised by TG4
The under 16 team management would like to thank Michael Collins, Tom Gilligan and the staff of Banada Abbey
secondary school for their help in contacting the team for this match as very short notice was given about the
change of venue. Originally fixed for Tourlestrane the match was switched to Ballymote on Friday morning. Thanks also to Michael Marren and Joe Doherty for the organization of transport.

Kilmactigue Community Games will be held on Tuesday May 29th at 6:00pm in the pitch. Volunteers are always
welcome.

The very best of luck is wished to Aoife Henry, Marion O’Donnell Bernadette Gavigan and Aisling Egan members
of the Sligo under 14 team who will contest the Connacht final against Galway in Corrofin on Wednesday May 23, 2001

Congratulations also to Aisling Egan who was selected as a member of the schoolgirls under 15 National
Basketball Team in Limerick recently.

The senior league game versus Bunninaden scheduled for Sunday last was postponed due to a bereavement in
Bunninaden. On Sunday next the team are at home to Castleconnor

The under 16 team have qualified for the league semi finals to be played on Friday May 18 versus Ballymote. The
team faced a tough Ballymote side on Friday last and a draw was the result of much hard work by both teams. Final
score Tourlestrane 0-11 Ballymote 1-08. The team on the night was:  Seamus Gildea, Nefti Villanova (Capt.)
Declan Egan, Shane Collins, Michael Quinn, Barry Kiranne, Paul Marren, Stephen Leonard, Diarmud Dunne,
Ciaran Carty, Tomas Henry, Stephen Timlin, Ian Leonard, Cormac Lundy, Matthew Brennan, Subs Adrian
Rochford, Colm Marren and Michael Kelly. Team management are pleased with the progress of the team to date ,
giving each of the panel members a run at some stage in the league. The club wish them all continued success

The best of luck is wished to Under 16 team manager Jerry Lundy on his recent appointment to the selection
committee for the Sligo Under 16 team

The under 14 team had a good start to the league when they travelled to St. Farnan’s on Friday last. Playing in
splendid conditions for football each team battled hard with Tourlestrane emerging eventual winners. The next
game in the league is set for Friday May 25th at home versus Tubbercurry. The club is awaiting confirmation of the Feile final date at the time of writing

Get well wishes are extended to senior player James Curley who received a serious ankle injury recently

The club would like to extend a warm welcome to Eamonn Haran. Eamonn has recently returned to his ancestral
home in Cloongoonagh and will be available to play at both Junior and Senior levels for Tourlestrane.

The best of luck is wished to John Marren, Banada, and Colin Neary, Gortermone, who will represent Tourlestrane on the Sligo minor panel in the Connacht Championship. At the time of writing the date of the match was under consideration due to exam commitments for some of the panel.

The very best of luck is wished to Laura Walsh, Aiofe Henry, and Aisling Egan who will represent Tourlestrane  on
the Sligo  ladies Under 16 team who face Galway in the Connacht final on Thursday May 17th in Markievicz Park.
Good Luck also to Bernie Gavigan, Aoife Henry, Marian O’Donnell and Aisling Egan who will contest the
Connacht final at Under 14 level on Wednesday May 23rd. More details to follow later

Deepest sympathy to Nora and David McVeigh and family, Annagh, on the recent death of Nora’s mother in Sligo

The Under 12 team had a good league win over St. Mary’s on Monday last and again on Friday in a challenge
versus Enniscrone. The next round of the league is down for Monday May 21st when the team travel to St. John’s.

Training continues for the Under 10 team on Mondays at 6:00pm.

Best wishes to the national school children of the parish who compete in Cumann na mBunscol 7 a side football and
hurling competitions this week

The Under 16 team were defeated by Drumcliffe on Friday last. The team were short a few key players in Brian
Neary and Brian Kennedy. Many thanks to Mick Breslin manager of the Drumcliffe team for his assistance to the
injured Ciaran Carty. Thanks also to Ann and Pete McIntyre for their help in the unfortunate accident.

The club has been approved for 8 places on a summer job scheme for third level students. Those who qualify should pick up an application form from their local Social Welfare Office.

The under 14 team qualified for the County final of the Feile competition by virtue of a good wins over Drumcliffe,
Curry and Eastern Harps. Their opponents in the final will be St. John's and the club wishes continued success to
the team and manager Anthony Brennan.

The senior game versus Easky scheduled for Sunday last will be played at a later date.

Sincere sympathy is wished to Dinny and Margaret Walsh and family, Carrane on their recent tragic bereavement.
Condolences also to the O'Hara family Cloongoonagh on the death of Mrs Clarke.

Bingo continues on Tuesday evenings at 9:00pm in Banada Abbey Hall with a guaranteed payout of £1100. All
volunteers are asked to be at the hall at 8:30pm. Any one interested in helping are more than welcome and should
contact any member of the committee.
