The
Towers provides entertainment nightly in the high season and a chance to mingle with the people of the
village of Glenbeigh in a real Kerry atmosphere of traditional music
and warm conversdation.It's here that you have the craic!The Towers traditional pub is the real local meeting place as it is
here that everybody gathers for a pint of Guinness, a glass of wine, a
whiskey or an Irish coffee. Local and Internationl affairs are
discussed and all are welcome to have their say- it's the the
Glenbeigh parliament.The bar also serves a variety of traditional
Irish dishes while the hectic entertainment schedule will keep you
dancing all night.Sweenys bar part of the
Towers Hotel offers a mix of entertainment including the best of Irish
and modern music including the occassional disco.
Puck
Fair held in Killorglin(8km from Glenbeigh is one of Ireland's
oldest and longest celebrated and is held without fail on 10th, 11th
and 12th August every year with 12 hours of free family street
entertainment.The main events of the festival include the
traditional horse fair, the Guinness busking competition, parade and
coronation ceremony of King Puck, open air night concerts, fireworks
display, children's competitions, street entertainers and dancing
displays.
Craic (pronounced crack) is the unofficial catchphrase around
Kerry for having a good time.Not to be confused with the American slang
, 'craic' or 'having the craic' pertains to people having fun, usually involving the pub, drink, music, loquacious nonsense or any social occasion involving liberal measures of all four.
