Californication...........Yeeeeeeeaaaaahhhh!!

As I was never a HUGE fan of RHCP before, I was a little in and out about buying this. (Ask anyone what I’m like about buying “new” things!) But I have to say...It kicks mickey (dick if you’re american!) Its strengths are, like always with this band, the slower stuff. Songs like the title track, Scar Tissue, Otherside all have a serious GROOVE going for them.

Then there’s the classic RHCP sound, the sex/funk/punk/sex kind of thing. Even these songs are cool. I Like Dirt, the totally KEWL Around The World....these bare the stamp of real RHCP songs, hook-laden bass, kewl (if odd) lyrics, tight drums and excellent guitar....there are a few great moments where Flea and John Fusciente really lock in tight to each other and syncopate like mad bastards. Not to be missed.

If your chick likes to be rocked out by more than just you after eight pints on a Saturday night, then she’ll like it.

Like it, not love it. It’s a guy’s album, same as usual with RHCP.(I’m only using that abbrev. Now cause it’s kewl!!!)
Still, at least this time it’s not all sex sex sex, so she won’t freak out too much when she catches you at it.
