Since
I think Blade Runner is probably the finest film ever made, you might be
forgiven for thinking that I would be a little biased towards this game but then
I would have to say, no, I wouldn't.
It's true though, Blade Runner is the finest film ever made, so I didn't hold
out much hope for the game being any good. But I'm glad to say my smart ass was
pleasantly surprised. No, more than that: totally enthralled with this game.
You play as Ray McCoy, a rookie type Blade Runner who is suddenly given his
first chance to kick some replicant ass. Ray is a bit of a weirdo when it comes
to his dog (definitely some fucked-up, one boy and his dog, type stuff going on
there) and he tends to flap his arms about like a bit of a twat, but other than
that he's pretty cool, for a computer game character.

It's obvious the guys who
made this game put a lot of time and effort into recreating the look and mood
of the film and they did a damn fine job too.
The music works especially well. You can walk out of Rays apartment and stand
on the balcony to look at the city and the sombre music of Blade Runner kicks
in and for a while you feel like you're really there (if your a bit of a sad
angry loner like me that is). That's all the balcony and music seem to be
there for, they don't play any other role in the game, except for enhancing
the mood.
A lot of the scenes will
look familiar to anyone who has seen the film (if you haven't seen the film
then get off my page and don't come back until you have seen it, you god damn
freak). And there are many refernces towards characters from the film too.
The game itself is a kind of point and click affair except it's not, if you
know what I mean. The graphics are a hell of a lot better then your usual
pointy-clicky game for a start and the way you use things and interact is a
little different too. Oh yeah, you get to voight-kampff people and you get to
use the Esper!!!
The only bad thing about this game is that despite the 4 cds it's a little
short. Oh and the minimum spec requirements on the box are bullshit. P90, 16
RAM my ass. Other than that it's a masterpiece.
What more do you need to hear?
You must buy this. You have too.
Trust me, you won't regret it.
Coffee Factor:
Coffee factor in this game isn't too bad.
There's plenty of opportunity to have a few mouthfuls while the fmv is playing
or while you're vk-ing people. Don't get too complacent though or you could
miss the chance to shoot a rep, which could be very bad for your health.
Chick dig it?
Ooh but it's sooo dark.
It's sooo depressing.
Does it ever stop raining?
Do I have to learn how to use that thing?
Will the chick dig it?
No. I don't think so.
Unless she's cool.
