Yes. I liked it. I just did. This is one of those rare RPG games that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Basically, from what I can remember of this game, you're a dude that's spent all his life living in a bomb shelter but your life is suddenly changed when you are forced to leave the vault in search of....well, I'll let the game tell you what's going on, it will do it better then my rambling.
There are a couple of reasons why this game gets only a so-so rating on the thumb factor:
1. And this can be a sticky subject with me...... the minium specs:
Here's what the official page says about the specs:

Pentium-90, 16 megs of RAM, DirectX 3.0a or 5.0, 2x CD-ROM drive, SVGA, DirectSound compatible sound card. Some people have reported success running on lower speed machines (486/66 and up), but we do not officially support less than a P90.

BBUUULLLSSSHHHIIITT!!!!! I nearly pissed my self laughing when i read that (well....I smirked....but in a very demeaning way, honest).
Whilst now I have a nicely turbo charged PC, back when I bought this game I had a P120 with 16 ram and after a week or two of playing this game i was ready to throw it through the window it stalled so much (the PC that is).
2. Your mission is on a time limit (they got rid of that in the second one) so you don't really feel like you have enough time to explore.

But other then that I liked this game alot. The graphics are pretty good especially with those nice low specs (ahem).
The fighting system can take a little time to get used to though. There are lots of sub missions to keep you going but watch that ammo folks, it doesn't grow on trees you know....
Buy this game. Especially now as it is nice and cheap most places.

..........Let me get this straight you're sayin that car only had one previous owner?
..........ET....phone.......hospital.....
Coffee Factor
What kind of world would we live in without coffee huh?
It makes every day a brighter, happier and better day. Sweet, sweet cap-a-mu-cino....
So any-hoooo the coffee factor is good on this game. Even during the fights you can sit back and have a sip o' the good stuff 'cause they are turn based (Although this might mean the fights are little boring...)
Coffee, coffee, coffee, yeah.
If you don't like it, I don't want to know ya.
Chick dig it?
Apparently a lot of ladies like/play this game but I've never seen one play it have you?
No.
You see?
Don't listen to everyone, some people are just full of shit you know.
For fear of sounding sexist I can't really see the chicks liking this game as there are no cute, fluffy charactors in it.....well no non-radioactive ones anyway.
And Finally I just got to mention this Fallout site:
San Andrea's Fallout Vault
'cause in all my surfing years I have to say this is one of the funniest sites I have ever seen. You have to, I'll repeat that, have to check out this site or you will miss a very good laugh.
You could also have a look at the offical site:
Interplays Fallout
If you like fallout then this is the place for you.
Yes, you sir there.
