Welcome to the Web Site of Treascon Lodge. We are situated just outside Portarlington, Co Laois and are in the heart of Irelands central plain. We are within easy reach of Dublin, Cork and Galway and the perfect location from which to explore the country.
Treascon Lodge is a modern, distinctive house situated in the peaceful countryside 4kms outside Portarlington, a famous Huguenot town near the centre of Ireland. We offer quality Bed and Breakfast accommodation at reasonable prices. Each room has its own T.V. and tea and coffee making facilities. We would be delighted to help plan your stay in the Portarlington area with suggestions of places to visit. We can advise on the best routes to visit attractions and what to look out for along the way. Treascon Lodge is about 4km from the town of Portarlington. Travelling from Dublin, head Southbound in the direction of the Dublin-Cork/Limerick road (N7). Travel on N7, and afterwards M7, to the turnoff for the town of Monasterevin (Exit 14). Leave the Motorway and travel through the town of Monasterevin. About 4km beyond Monasterevin there is a major turn right for Portarlington. Upon reaching Portarlington, travel through the main street of the town (one way street) and you will soon be at the square. Opposite you are the ‘Corrig House’ and the ‘Weighbridge Inn’. Take the road between these two pubs. Travelling from Cork or Limerick, take the main Dublin Road. When you reach Portlaoise, continue on the motorway bypass towards Dublin. After bypassing Portlaoise you will see a major left for Portarlington. Upon reaching Portarlington, travel through the main street of the town (one way street) and you will soon be at the square. Opposite you are the ‘Corrig House’ and the ‘Weighbridge Inn’. Take the road between these two pubs. Travelling from the West, travel to Athlone and then on to Tullamore. From Tullamore head to Portarlington. Drive straight into the town to the square. On your left are the ‘Corrig House’ and the ‘Weighbridge Inn’. Take the road between these two pubs. Within 100m you will cross a bridge over the Barrow River. Once over that bridge take the 2nd turn right at a crossroads (i.e. within 50m of the bridge). You will then be on a country road. Travel 4km and Treascon Lodge is on the left hand side. There is a sign at the start of the laneway to our home and we are the second last house from the end.
Treascon Lodge is a perfect holiday venue for children of all ages. We have a hard tennis court for budding champions and plenty of space for children to play. Our labrador Jesse certainly makes everyone feel welcome.
Located in a dedicated area of conservation there is an abundance of wildlife, both animals and flowers. Pheasants are particularly in abundance. Child minders can be arranged for evenings. Traffic is not a problem as we are away from the roads and we have private car parking. For the active adults as well as tennis there is a great choice of golf courses locally and the opportunity to enjoy the warmest of welcomes in the local pubs. Taxi services are reliable and very reasonable so there is no need to worry about driving. Treascon lodge is ideal as a base for visiting Dublin, Cork or Galway and an excellent rail service is provided from our local rail station. |
