Jan Francis (t.f. "Just Good Friends")
This is Jan Francis who played
"Penny" in the BBC series "Just Good Friends"
in the mid-eighties. Much in keeping with the trend at the time
on British TV, Jan wore a classic double-breasted trenchcoat
which fitted her like a glove. As with many trenchcoat sightings
on TV however, Jan only donned the trench for two scenes and
presumeably hid it away in the back of her wardrobe until the
next rainy day. Both Jan and her trench are worth a mention in
the history of the trenchcoat on television however fleeting
their appearence may have been.
**British satellite station "UK Gold" show repeats of
the programmes on an infrequent basis and although I can't
remember which episode Penny wears her trenchcoat, it was in an
earlier show.
***Jan francis also wore a Burberry trenchcoat in the movie
"Champions", again in the eighties...
