The Archive!
You know what they say - old photos never die - they go on the Internet to embarass for
all enternity! Yes due to space constraints on the UCD server, we had to locate all the old
photos here. But dont worry about that - just sit back and take a trip down good old memory
lane..
Year 2001/2002
Intervarsities 2002
The 2002 Intervarsities were once again held in UCD. Alas, again CIT beat the snot out of the mens teams, while the ladies teams were unlucky, coming second and third. The ladies did quite well over all, with Joanna Radman and Laura Thompson winning their respective sections. On the mens side, Barry Geraghty managed to win his section, narrowly beating Christian Simms in the final.
DIT Competition 2002
Taking place the week before our intervarsities, a crack team of commandoes was sent to investigate rumours of a competition in DIT. Upon their arrival they were immediately made fight. This - is their story.
Valentines Night 2002
Our second grading of the year was held on the 13th of February. So when the club went out to celebrate later on that night in Fireworks, when the clock passed midnight, it meant it was Valentines Day, providing for once an excuse for the debauchery and drunkness that regularly occurs on TKD nights out ...
Kickboxing Competition 2002
For the first time in two years we took on the kickboxers in a nice "friendly" competition. The results were ... "disapointing". We ended up losing 8-1 with newcomer Karen Connolly providing the only win, and Aoife Ruane and Thomas Fuery getting respectable draws.
Club Competition 2002
Once again the annual club competition came round and once again club tradition was maintained with two newcomers to the club winning their respective sections. Alan Seary and Joanna Radman came 1st in their respective sessions. Beginner of the Year and Student of the Year were also announced on the night with Dave Curran and Brian McIntyre picking up those honours.
Christmas Party 2001
Once again, we teamed up with Caving and Netsoc to hold the SleighRide, the best UCD Christmas party! This year, we moved to Mono and had the infamous U2 tribute band Zoo2 playing. With plenty of vodka ice to go round, and three clubs ready to party, this maintained the high standards set by last years SleighRide ...
Instructors Night Out 2001
As a reward for the hard, backbreaking efforts (not usually their own backs though) of the instructors, it was decided that a meal in Captain Americas was in order. Well starting off with cocktails in Captain Americas, then moving onto Flannerys, heading on into Mono for cheap beer relating goodness and finally ending up in Legges on Leeson Street, it was an excellant drunken night out.
Martial Arts Ball 2001
Again, the Tae Kwon Do club organised the Martial Arts Ball and again it was a huge success, with over 50 people attending from Tae Kwon Do alone. The night started off well with everyone looking very respectable and cultured. Of course - this only lasted until the first purple aftershock ... The night quckly became a lot less formal until finally Dan, John Cullen and Luke McKinney had a striping competition to see who could win a date with Caoimhe McKenna. You dont believe me? Well see for yourself ...
Tramore 2001
Our largest trip ever, there were 37 people on the weekend away in Tramore. From training on the beach, to defeating the Fist of the North Star arcade game, there was even plenty of actual Tae Kwon Do done. Caoimhe McKenna ensured this trip would go down in the club history by inventing for the first time the concept of "manky dancing", something which would come back and haunt us for many more events ...
Karaoke 2001
A first for the Tae Kwon Do club, it would be fair to say that this event was a complete success. With a packed student bar, and a crowd that was more than willing to get into the spirit of things, the night quickly turned into a crowd surfing, table dancing mosh pit, with the "highlight" of the night being Aikidos Luke McKinney striping off fo Rock DJ.
UCD Open 2001
The first competition of the academic year, this provided the first chance for our new members to see what a Tae Kwon Do competition was all about. And of course what happens after a competition in the Sports Bar and the Turks Head. It was also quite noteable on the scandal front, with Pat Curtin picking up the nickname "Lunchbox" for reasons that are probably best left unexplained ...
Freshers Party 2001
We may have lost the boat race this year, but god damn it, we more than made up for it with pure drinking power! Once again we teamed up with the other martial arts clubs to show our new members that theres more to martial arts than training - remember kids its all about having fun!

Ex-member`s Page
Here are some blasts from the past, ex-members of the club who have had to leave us for
the world of work and drudgery. We remember them with pride...
