WHAT IS THE INTERNET
The Internet is a worldwide computer network. The Internet has revolutionised the computer and communications world like nothing before. The Internet belongs to everyone and no one. It is a vast network that connects many independent networks.
Most of the network hardware in the Internet consist of communication lines and switches or routers. The participants in the Internet are a wide variety of machines, organisations and individuals all able to communicate and share information.
When you want information from a computer on the Internet you are a client. The computer that delivers the information is a server. A server both stores information and makes it available to any authorised client who requests the information.
