2ND LIEUT. ERNEST EDWARD BRANNIGAN

1st - 7th West Yorkshire Regt (Leeds Rifles). A native of Dublin.

Only son of Major J.H. Brannigan late R.A.M.C.

who fell in action on the Somme on the 3rd September 1916.

The general of the 49 Division considered it was a great loss to the division

And his colonel and brother officers deeply regretted him.

He also seved as a volunteer in the South African War 1988 - 1902 receiving

the Queens Medal and 6 clasps the King Edward VII Medal with 2 clasps.

In 1914 as a volunteer in the Transvaal Scottish he served under General Botha

in the South West African Campaign.

Also in loving memory of his companion and friend

2ND LIEUT. CHARLES ALLEN LEARMONTH

1st - 7th West Yorkshire Regt (Leeds Rifles)

who fell in action at Paschendaile on the 9th Oct 1917. He also served as a

volunteer in the Transvaal Scottish in the South West African Campaign.

He was of a lovable disposition and deeply regretted by his colonel and

brother officers.
